At this point she is mostly a highway commuter, ~40 miles/day. I would bet the car will last another 50,000 or so with some TLC before the tranny goes. At this point the engine runs like it will last forever.

On a side note, I went to college with a guy last year who drove an '85 Fleetwood with 315,000 ORIGINAL miles on it. It was still running strong!

Re: The Car Mileage Thread!

Origional engine and tranny???

If you are concerned about your trannys life, get the fluid flushed (at the first sign of slipping/something not right) and the filter changed..... That can really extend their life....

Re: The Car Mileage Thread!

The thing I LOVE to see most is a really high mileage car that runs good, and is almost perfect cosmetically!!!!!

Re: The Car Mileage Thread!

I have a 1994 fleetwood brougham with 185,000 mi i just had a used engine put in that has 60k on it. lt1's are usually indestructible but I had a bad fuel pump and it starved the engine for fuel and wore the crank gournals out it would probably still be truckin right now

A bad fuel pump starved the engine for fuel and wore the crank journals out???????
You sure you're not talking about an OILpump?

Re: The Car Mileage Thread!

I'm nearing 110k. W/ new engine at 100k, and newly rebuilt transmission at 106k.
I'm thinking of selling the car and get something more exciting to drive (i'm still pretty young to be driving a cadillac)

My 87' Sedan Deville has 144K+ on the original engine and tranny and still runs strong. I think because it was a "womans car" that was LADY Driven for most of it's life > and a one owner that was very well maintained, has preserved the longevity of the Ht4100 under the hood.

Belive it or not it was the fuel pump not the OIL pump the only reason why I could not of pervented it from happening is beacuse the light on the dash wouldnt light up beacuse of a bad sensor on the left bank

Re: The Car Mileage Thread!

I have 248k miles on my '93 DeVille. Looks great in side and out and it runs great. Recently, I have been having some problems with surging/stumble that I can't figure out, though. Sometimes I can't go faster than 20 mph up hills when the car's been running for about 1/2 hr or more.

Cheers,
T

Just passed 140k mi this morning on my '92 deville (original engine & trans). Had a new paint job about 4yrs ago, so it looks nice outside and fairly good inside and people are shocked when I tell them the car's worth so little. Funny, I also have this sputtering/stumbling problem with my engine, but only with more than half-throttle and when hot outside ( > 85deg F) or have been driving for many hours on the freeway. Otherwise, it still runs strong and hopefully will last another 100k mi...

Re: The Car Mileage Thread!

Yeah, that describes my problem, too. It has to be warm outside. If it's colder, like 65*F, then it doesn't happen. A fella on another Caddy board said he had to replace the pickup screen in the tank and the fuel pump.
