I also took the antenna apart from the mast down and sprayed white lithium grease down the shaft. Unfortunately, it still sticks! Not sure how it went from working fine one day, so being so sticky the next, but that's the way it is. Anyone know a good place to get a new power antenna? | That's an interesting place for the switch, very creative. Doesn't your car normally have the Traction Control Disable switch there? That's what was there on my '95 DeVille.
As for the antenna still sticking, did you try what I suggested and re-lubricate the mast itself, not just the gears and motor underneath?

I think I need a new antenna/motor, but its a major PITA to replace on a 1991 Brougham, since it sits in the right front fender with no way to get to it.
I've seen on 70's vintage Cadillacs that there is a button to manually lower and raise the antenna. Pretty good idea IMO, saves wear and tear on the motor. |

Many times actually, and it didn't help. I used mineral spirits to clean the mast an white lithium grease for the inside. Alas, it didn't work.
That was a free space in my glove box, I just had to pop out the plastic cover to expose the round hole. I don't have a traction disable switch. |

I worry about it every time i hear it moving up and down! Does anybody know if i get a new head unit like a pioneer or alpine will it be able to function similarly to the factory stereo or will i have to install an override switch too?
thanks. great topic! |

thanks. great topic! | Most aftermarket radios do have an output for the power antenna. If the one you are looking at does not then most have an output signal for an amplifier and you can also use this for the antenna. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
