i just got a 02 dts floor console that i would like to install on a 01 deville. i was looking at some helpful threads by logandiagnostic, turbojimmy, bigmike, and ophedian.
i have a couple of questions that perhaps someone caould help me with. first the floor console did not come with the shift console but i was looking at my shift cable on the steering column and i heard that i can reroute it but i dont know how to specifically do it ? what exactly do i have to remove or do ? call me dumb but can someone explain to me how by removing the shift cable from the column and puttting it to the dts console is going to shift gears ??
also i noticed there are wiring harnesses on the bottom of the deville's console. are those the ones i will have to splice and connect with the harnesss that comes with the dts console?? or would i have to splice some wiring harnesses on the steering column? also if any one who did this have the diagrams for a 01 deville and 02 dts wiring harnesses that would be perfect
lastly i cant get the sterring column clam shells off i think they need special keys other than screw drivers or wrenches ?? any one know how to remove it ??
any help would help
thanks alot |

I think its been on Ranger's to-do list for a while. But from the sound of it I think you need more parts than you have. |

He's gonna need new column shrouds as well unless he wants to leave the rubber boot sticking out of the original column. Also will have to reroute the T/C button wiring from the shifter to the console as well as fabricate some type of bracket to mount the shift cable as I recall if you are using the original column cable. |

I'll be calling them tomorrow. Looks like the right color. I may be back in the console conversion business again. THANKS Quantum! |

Ewill is running the VIN to check on the color, but it looks right to me. I suspect whoever I would talk to could not tell me much about it anyway. Probably never laid eyes on it. I'll probably just have to put a bid on it and hope it is better than the last POS I got and had to return. |

Here is the # 573-565-3508
There is actually a picture of the RPO tag on the site http://www.yanceyauto.com/inventory.php
Select 2002
Then Cadillac
Then Deville
Then DTS
Scroll down to very bottom and select "Parts Vehicles In Inventory"
Then select the 2002 Deville with 88866 miles.
I saw the RPO tag, clear as a bell. U800J, and 156
Is 156 the interior color code? |

i felt comfortable splicing the wriring harnesses from the deville and the dts console.
yea my intention was to leave to column shifter there even though it would look wired.
i was going to use the original column shifter and reroute it to the floor console but had no idea what to unhook or remove much less make a bracket.
one thing that does bother me though how can by rerouting the shift cable from the cloumn and installing it on the floor shifter how does one know that shifts and gears will still be correct. ?? |

Yup, that's my interior, right down to the trim code 15I. Maybe I'll give them a call when I get off here.
It amazes me that that car was totaled for such seemingly minor damage. |

Wish me luck. |

I have bought some things from Yancy before, which is how I knew my way around their site. The stuff I got from them was in good shape and they were cool to deal with. Hope it's as nice as it looks in the pics.
Good luck with the install, and glad I could help! | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
