2001 Cadillac Deville Airbag Sensor

Remove this ad
I was driving one night and all of the sudden my Airbag light came on. It says "Service Airbag" on the cluster. How do I reset this? The car was never hit and only has 71,550 miles.

Thank you

Edit:I cleaned under the passenger seat and the light went off, hopefully this fixes the problem.

Re: 2001 Cadillac Deville Airbag Sensor

If it happens again pull codes:

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ull-codes.html (How To Pull Codes)

That will narrow down your problem. You could even do it now and see if there are any SRS history codes to tell you what it thought was the problem.

Re: 2001 Cadillac Deville Airbag Sensor

My father told me it was probably a sensor on the passenger seat, so i cleaned under it , dust/hair leaves etc and it went away. Whats the command to pull it up? I tryed to hold down Info Down, and OFF and nothing happened.

Re: 2001 Cadillac Deville Airbag Sensor

The SDM (sensing and Diagnostic Module... or air bag module) constantly runs diagnostic tests on the entire system.
If a sensor value slips too high or low or a deployment loop has too high or too low resistance the light will come on.
One the issue is fixed the light will go out, there is no "clearing it" only "fixing it".
A code will be required to identify the source of the trouble.

Re: 2001 Cadillac Deville Airbag Sensor

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the button to pull codes on the 2001 is still Climate Control "Warmer+OFF"

Re: 2001 Cadillac Deville Airbag Sensor

'Warmer' is the red button to increase the cabin temperature. Use the passernger 'Warmer' if you have dual-zone.

If you have dials for the temperature control use Info^ + Off

It doesn't say "warmer" anymore?

Forgive me, I'm stuck in 1991

Re: 2001 Cadillac Deville Airbag Sensor

mine did the same when i bought it.. it was on the showroom floor at the dealership, at 70 degrees, and when i drove it the next day (january in Minnesota) it said service airbag. the dealer said it was the temperature change. its been 2 years and i haven't seen it again so i assumed that was what did it.
