Angry Glove Box Flooded

Remove this ad
I have a 2000 DTS. Last week, a strong thunderstorm passed through the area.
A day or so after the storm I got in the car and started to drive away from the house when I noticed water running out from the front of the glove box. When I opened the glove box door, there was about an inch of water sitting in the bottom of the glove box. Every paper in the glove box was soaked. I cannot figure out how the rain water got into my glove box. Nothing else in the car was wet. The only thing I noticed was outside of the car. At the outside bottom of the windshield, there is a black plastic trough. Where this goes against the windshield , there is a gap right near the area of the glove box. Is it possible that the water got past the windshield gap and into my glove box?

Re: Glove Box Flooded

That would be my guess. Flood it with a garden hose and start snooping around.

Re: Glove Box Flooded

Are you the original owner, and has the windshield ever been replaced ?

There are drains and channels to move water from the air intake molding/trough/grille of which you speak. Is there any debris packed down in there ?

I will have to check for debris blockage.
