From what I've gathered this button which seems was only available from 91-93 and was std. on 91's and an option on 92's & 93's, can anyone comfirm that this was a quite rare option. My owner's manual doens't say anything about it being an option. And yes, mine has this button and I love it! |

With the Security Group, it was not needed. |

One has the button the other does not. I have both original sets of keys for each and no fob, so if it had one I was lost before I took ownership.
The one without the button (with the security package) has an alarm that goes off if you do not use the key to unlock the door, for instance if i roll the window down, lock the doors from the inside then reach in through the open window and press unlock on the door then it will "honk" until I put the key in the door lock and turn.
Sandy, Could you clarify the "not needed" part a bit. I dont see why it couldnt have been included on those with the security aswell. |

And here's my question: if I don't have the Security Group, then why do I have the Security light on my Left hand Info Center which illuminates @ startup? |

And that the security light is for my pass key, boy do I feel dumb!!! |

When I got my 2nd deville with the alarm I didnt know it had one until I accidently set it off in my driveway lol. The door didnt lock when I pushed the button and i didnt notice. Since I hit the lock button it set the alarm and when I just opened the door without the key it went off on me. |

2 Remote Key Fobs that lock & Ulock the doors & pop open the trunk; and a factory installed anti-theft system that activates when you lock the doors with the key fob, or power door locks. 1989-1993 |

OK that would explain why the button is not needed wih the security group. The 2 Fobs unlock the doors. I guess those were lost before I got the car . Thanks for clairyfing. |

You Cadillac dealer can key in the code, I do believe.
My 1993 Sixty Special (Bought new) has "lost" it's code 3 times, or about every 5th year. The first two times I took her to my selling dealer. He sent a tech outside, to my car, and he opened & entered the trunk, all the way forward, to like the center of the trunk and down against the back or the rear seat, where he pulled up the felt-like carpeting, legs hanging out the trunk, mind you, and did something and it began working! 5 years later we repeated it.
Then in 2007 it happened again. In the duration, the dealership was sold to a developer who build apartments on the land, so i had to go to another dealer.
THAT dealer said the stuff he had to get to, was like behind the stereo or ash tray or something like that, and that he needed the car for 2 hours or so. (Other guy came right out, did it in the used car lot, and was all done in 15 minutes. The shop charge was twenty bucks & I gave the guy a $5.00 tip.)
Now, this new dealer, where I was a stranger. wanted 2 hours labor, which would been $ $200.00 - but ... they would give me a break and charge me a "new customer appreciation fee" of $125.00.
I left.
I called a guy that knew the tech who had always
done it for me, and he told me where that tech was working!
Of all places....he was in the town I live in...at the Dodge Dealer.
I met him after work, in the parking lot of a Dairy Queen and he hopped in the trunk, and did his thing, and in less than 7 minutes, it was fixed.
I gave him $12.00 and a Dairy Queen Sundae.
So.....be carefull and ask questions about how they are gonna fix it and HOW MUCH ! Good luck | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
