Help with RSS Code!

Remove this ad
I just switched to Arnott's this week and connected the new solenoids. But I am still getting the code 1780 under RSS. What is it/how do I fix this? Thanks in advance, you guys are always helpful!

Re: Help with RSS Code!

There are several possible "1780" codes. What is the alpha prefix?

It could be B1780, or C1780, or P1780.

Re: Help with RSS Code!

Anyone have any suggestions? It is C1780...

I cant car pool with folks or haul much in the car, this "issue" prevents my air compressor from engaging.

I do not have a Service Manual for your year-model, so my comments might be wide of the target.

That code can be set because of a lack of a valid steering wheel position signal between your ride control module and your brake control module.

If that is the case, the place to start looking for a dirty/corroded/broken electrical connection would be at the brake control module (exposed to the weather and who knows what else bouncing from the highway surface).

Re: Help with RSS Code!

Any idea where this module might be? I also discovered code 1738, ground short. I read that you MUST replace the compressor on the vehicle but my problem was just one of the wires Arnott issued to me has a bad connection to the sensor. I have a temp fix on it right now, so the car doesn't toss a 1738 anymore, just the 1780. The air ride will engage if I "clear code". The 1780 comes back immediately and the compressor will inflate the rear shocks, however it will not come back on unless i "clear codes" again. Any help with this particular issue would be great. is it possible the 1780 is the computer to not engage the compressor after?

Re: Help with RSS Code!

How smooth is it riding with the Arnott's. Can you just replace the concours struts with the normal deville struts and buy a resistor from suncore?

Re: Help with RSS Code!

Sorry I'm new with Cadillac so I don't have the answers, but did your concours ride relatively stiff with the electronic struts, and now floats more with the more stock deville passive struts? Mine is riding a little too stiff and may need struts. I want it to ride softer and am wondering if it would be better with the passive shocks? Did you swap the springs too?

Thanks,
Guy

Re: Help with RSS Code!

Mine came with air ride from factory, so I basically just threw out the old ones when they decided to kick the bucket and replaced them with Arnott's

Re: Help with RSS Code!

So when you hit bumps with the arnotts it absorbs them.
