When I open my trunk, it wouldn't come "up" to be ready to close the trunk, unless I bang and beat it for like 15 minutes, then out of no where you'll hear the motor kick in and come up. THEN when I close the trunk after it finally comes up, it won't pull the trunk back down without major shaking and re-opening/slamming the trunk!
Now this morning it just doesn't do anything no matter how much I bend and attempt to break the damn thing. I had to SLAM my trunk hard to get it to catch on the hook and stay shut at least, but I still have a "Trunk Open" indicator.
My question is, I can't seem to find a complete assembly for trunk pull down motors on google or anything. They are all for SeVille's or some other make and model or the wrong year. It's like my specific car is no longer serviced for parts. Does anyone know the cost of having the dealership replace a trunk lid motor? Or where to find the part for MY car? 1999 Cadillac DeVille D'Elegance?
Thanks for any help on this. Even if it's just something I can look in to for fixing my current problem. I tried disconnecting and checking the wire that powers it, and it looks fine. The switch on the trunk lid itself works fine (turns on and off the light). I really think my speakers rattled the gears inside of the part that pushes the latch up and down too much, and it just died. I would really prefer a manual trunk lid latch at this point, and just get rid of the whole motorized thing in the first place. Any suggestions? |

Replaced the brushes, reassembled and installed and it worked fine till I sold it. |

Still wouldn't mind a manual trunk, with no motor. =| |

Reassemble it and reinstall it, but don't plug it in. You may have to play with it a bit to get the correct hight on the latch. |

The motor goes up but it doesnt know youre trying to close the trunk and it wont go back down again to close it. |

I saw how the other one just tells the motor when to stop. Now that im thinking about it I miss seeing it go down by itself |
