| Re: Getting a PCM P0101 after CAI installation xtu........NO, a so-called CAI will not "hurt" your engine per se. Most of the run-of-the-mill setups run a pipe of some color or dimension to some sort of box or cone filter that's stuck in a corner of the engine compartment, using quite a bit or no shielding from the compartment heat it's supposed to reduce in the first place. (Most of the late vehicle models are already true CAI setups, stock, just not chrome and clamps, so no bragging rights, and they're also designed to do something else: quiet the air intake roar.) Enhancing that intake roar is the trick to convince you that good things have happened. Exactly the same as loud mufflers: in and of themselves, your car is not "faster" because it's noisier. It is a salesmanship and human factor trick that allows you to believe.......
A properly executed, larger diameter CAI - from the filter box to the lower front bumper grille area - is a worthwhile modification. Anything else is eye candy. |
