rear window won't work

Ui have a 1986 cadillac deville sedan and I having a problem with my front passengers window. At first when I tried to lower it using the master switch it wouldn't work. So I used the switch on the door itsself and it worked so about 5 minutes later the window went up by itself and won't go up or down I also noticed on the master switch it doesn't feel the same when I push it down has a loose feeling. According to the service manual if the master switch screws up the other won't work. Any suggestions help

Re: rear window won't work

Sounds like ya just need a new master...they can do all kinds of odd things..

as far as the master screwing up, and causing the other not to work, thats not neccesarily true for all scenarios..
Probley would`nt hurt to check the plug`in on the back/bottom of the master, could be a bit loose, or coroaded?

Re: rear window won't work

Yeah I agree with you on the master switch because the lfront passenger sbutton when I push it up it doesn't feel the same kinda loose or it goes down further than it used to. So if that button is broke how would the window go up by itself.

Sounds like you might have some broken peices in side the switch which could shift around and make the connection by chance! i would pull it out and check the bottom, also sometimes when they get wet they start acting crazy like that!!!!

Re: rear window won't work

Buy a new switch (they're cheap from online places and were used for a decade)

Basically wht I was aying is I replaced the master switch and the frnt passengers. The frnt passengers wasn't broken I just had a new one. So I did a test run on both of them. So while I was driving the car the master wouldn't work but the passengers would. So after I use the passengers the master would work any suggestions
