"Emissions" indicator on dash??

One sunny day this caught my eye: As I've mentioned before my '93 has have the digital cluster, and in the odo. window above the mileage there is the word "Emissions". What is the purpose of this? Even more strange, how come Devilles w/ the Analog cluster didn't have it?

Never heard of this before. It's probably trying to tell you that you have an emissions problem. Pull the DTC's.

I think he saw the "EMISSIONS" window on the panel face, sort of like you can see all the little icons etched into my STS panel in the right sun angle.

Wonder if the car has an early SES system ??

I'm sure the '93 has an SES light.

Yes, that is what I mean, it has never acually been lit up.

And Ranger, yes I have a SES and a SVS light on my dash, not sure what the SVS is for, this is the first time I've ever seen one.

SES is an ECM fault, SVS is a BCM fault in general.

Yeah, I had a feeling that is what SVS means.

It's not uncommon, to have non-working warning lamps designed into a cluster.

Many clusters are designed a few years before the car goes into production.

The 'dummy' warning lamps may never light up, or maybe, if the car is programmed for export.

Export laws change, Federal laws change. Easier to have that lamp there and already done in then go back and retool the cluster.
