    QuestionWeird noise............

When accellerating in my 1990 Fleetwood coupe, I hear a sort of low, throaty, muffled, rumbling, rattling kind of sound. The dealer diagnosed it as the catalytic converter, which they replaced, but this did not eliminate the noise.

When I took it back, they said they couldn't be sure, but it might be the beginning of some bearing noise (I'm assuming they mean main bearings). Is this likely in a car with 71,000 miles? Could it be some sort of exhaust leak?
If anybody has any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate reading them, and thanks in advance.

I'm a little leary of the work the dealer has done on the car since I've had it - about a year - but until I can find a good independent garage, I'm afraid I'm stuck with them.

Any more dealers close by where you can get a second opinion? Not really much I can tell you without hearing the noise...

Does the rattle sound like a marble in a tin can? It could be an exhaust thing. It could be lots of things. A mechanic needs to hear the noise.
