Question Stock Wheels Crome Dipped

We've got a customer with a 2002 Deville who has somehow got an OE wheel chrome plated. The OE wheel part # is 9594230 but is not chrome.

Ideally I'm looking to get a chrome wheel that matches, so we don't have to get a bright finish wheel and then send it somewhere to chrome dip it.

I have found a wheel in the Parts section of the forums site here.
It is listed as "Cadillac Cadillac FWD 16x7 alloy wheel" on the left column about halfway down this page

The "continue" link goes to their online store page for the wheel.

Anyone ever bought from these autopartsfair.com people?

Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

~chris

sux i can't edit the subject... just noticed i left out the h in chrome

Re: Stock Wheels Crome Dipped

There are a ton of companies that will exchange your stock wheels for the same ones in chrome. Just do a search in yahoo and you should be able to pull up a bunch of companies. Here's one

Re: Stock Wheels Crome Dipped

I was thinking that we would have to do the chrome dipping, but the cost of that wheel I linked above is right around the cost of a new non-chrome wheel from GM, so it would really cost more to get it from GM and then dip it.

Re: Stock Wheels Crome Dipped

I looked into this as my 4 wheels are stained and can't be fixed. The cost is almost as much as a new wheel quoted at the site mentioned above but worse than that, it takes 4 weeks at the place I located (in Bath, PA). Since most of us don't have a spare set of wheels to put on the car while the others are being re-chromed, it won't work, for me, at least.

Re: Stock Wheels Crome Dipped

@StuJac: So are you saying that getting a wheel already chromed (like the one I've found thru the parts section here) is probably a better option, in your opinion, right?

Re: Stock Wheels Crome Dipped

Yes-if for no other reason than the time delay. I will also say I look on ebay every day and there's a seller that offers a set for a pretty good price. It's not highly polished chrome, though. It's the "machined" look. I'm thinking of going that route. I really want a set of black wheels but the choices are very slim in 16" and since I have new tires in 16", going to 17" is not an option.

Re: Stock Wheels Crome Dipped

SOLVED... got the casting number off the back of the wheel and GM ParTech converted it to the part number we need. As it happens we had just last month ordered the same wheel for a customer who then declined the wheel (probably because it was too expensive). SO anywho, we've got what we need and this thread can be closed.
