DTS Instrument cluster in Base Deville

Does anyone know what is involved if I purchase a used cluster from a DTS to install in my base Deville? I understand that its plug n play but how do I reset the mileage?

The DTS cluster is plug and play. I know, I have done this upgrade myself.

You do have to cut a window in the bezel for the heads down display. See pic.

The mileage is not read from PCM. It is stored in the cluster.

You would have to walk the cluster into a Delco radio/speedometer repair shop. They should be able to update the mileage in 15 minutes or so.

Question would be price.

I just found this very interesting web site. I have an 04 DTS (wife's car)
and when I drive it I go bonkers over the PRNDL being so small that it is difficult to see. Is there a larger view available, or do I change the cluster or what is suggested?

If you already have the DTS cluster, there is no upgrade available.

There are no options to make the PRND display larger..

You'll have to live with the issue.

So you have the green electronic display cluster?

You could put the needle (dhs/dts) cluster in. But I think the PRNDL display is even smaller then the green display one.

I guess my answer in "YES"...but mine you can choose if you want the
digital electronic display or the "Needle" display just by the flip of a switch. And, you are right, there is no difference in the size of the PRNDL in either case. And, another question, where do I or can I post a question about the frequency and duration of the "cold" high idle?

The STS cluster I just looked at on eBay looks exactly like my spare DTS one.

I found a cluster out of a 00 STS with same miles as my Deville! 30k, but will it work??

The 30% of electrical I checked looked ok. The eBay cluster looked like it had the same mold lines etc. Appeared to be the same cluster..


That being said, when we bought our first DTS cluster, it was a crap shoot. No idea if it would work or not. Ended up working perfectly.

Again, that being said. I know some clusters have the needle sweep at start up..some dont. ? whatup with that?

It's a gamble.

Hell, I got a spare DTS cluster I may be willing to sell you. Denso reman..really..think it has either 29k or 32k on it. $100 + shipping.
