I have a 1996 Cadillac Deville with the Northstar and my transmission started slipping horribly. While I was driving, it started slipping out of overdrive, when I put it in 3rd it was working fine. On my way home it started slipping out of 3rd so I stopped at a Quick Change oil place to have the oil changed and hoped that maybe my fluid level was low (it was a little while since I checked). Unfortunately, the fluid was fill and it smelled burnt. I had it towed to a local garage and he told me he doesn't work on these problems
The only variable I could think of that may be relevant, maybe, was about two months ago I had my Alternator changed and when I got it back my gas mileage dropped about 4-5 mpg. The garage said they didn't know how that could be related so I just let it go and dealt with the bad mileage. The other thing that didn't work right after this happened was my clock stays at 12:00, but occassionally it will work and it keeps the time I set.
Could someone help me, please???
