Help!
My 96 Deville is periodically backfiring through the intake (about once every 15 miles or so) and studdering (acting like one of the cylinders isnt firing, doing this constantly). It started doing it a few days ago, it occurs only when the car is between 30-45mph and you give the car a minor amount of gas (the backfiring is accompanied by studdering which is more common), however if you give it more gas it stops. Car starts and idles perfectly. I did some research on the issue, and since I recently acquired the car (it has 120k miles on it), I replaced the fuel pressure regulator (car seems to run smoother but still doing the periodic backfiring). The check engine light is not coming on. I am highly suspicious of it being caused by bad crank position sensors, but at teh sametime it looks like it has oem spark plug wires. Anyone have any comments, suggestions?
Thanks
