Long list of issues from my 94 Deville

OK so I just got a 1994 Deville from my mom, she has been having issues with it and didn't want to deal with it. The problems started happening about 2 months ago.

1. The whole instrument cluster is black, the only lights that come on are the normal car starting lights (SRS, check engine soon, seatbelt) but none of the digital. So I can not pull any codes off of it.

2. Fuel pump makes lots of noise before starting, its very loud and runs for about 5 seconds, and if not started for long enough will kick back on. the pump has had this noise actually since she got the car 2 years ago and has never had a issue with it.

3. Just recently (last week) the car wouldn't start for my mom, she gave it to me, I jumped it and it started after the engine sounded like it was bogging a little (slow turning) but after it cranks over 2 times it goes strong. but today went to start it click, click, click. Tried jumping it left the cables on for about 30 min. no start, now all that happens is a clicking from a little box next to a box by the transmission on the cross member that the break lines run into.

so any help with any of these issues would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure about your gauge cluster. But the fuel pump should be making a high pitched whine, while your starting the car and while its running. If its extremely loud and intermintent, you need a new fuel pump. That could be the reason it isn't starting. THe battery could be bad as well, these cars require alot of electricity, so I would put in a new one.

Clicking sound is probably a fully-discharged battery. I'd guess that the electrical problem with your cluster has caused the battery to drain down.

I see this is a really old thread. Did you ever get it fixed? If so what caused the gauge problem??? I've got an identical situation with mine. Thanks
