Re: my cadillac is low in the back

The picture in that is a front strut

Here is the same part number for Advance Auto

You can see the air nipple towards the bottom. It also appears to include a mounting bracket (the large oval brick at the top) which may not be needed but might as well replace while you've got the deck out.

The eBay seller is selling a pair of them for the price of one at Advance, and the $20 shipping is not much worse than sales tax either. I'm not gonna tell you what to do but it seems like a good deal if it's what he says it is.

Re: my cadillac is low in the back

I put some gaberial rear struts and after they put them on you could feel the difference in the drive the rear was stiff but the front was bouncy and the shop told me I needed front struts as well. Since these are the original struts that where on the car. A day after I put the struts on the car I started it and it looked low before I started and after. But you could still feel the ruggedness in the rear struts but the front wasn't as bouncy. Do you think my rear struts realigned themselves to the front struts. So I bounced the back and I heard a clicking noise by the struts wht do you supoose that is?

Re: my cadillac is low in the back

Did you get the 4-wheel alignment?

I had the same thing (minus the clicking) so I had the fronts changed too and that made a big improvement. No more bouncing up front and no more pothole noise either. I also had them replace all my bushings (swaybars, control arms, everything) and that helped too. I am going to get the springs replaced next and am trying to coordinate my replacement wheels so that any caster changes that are needed can be made at the same time.

Re: my cadillac is low in the back

I had some wheel chatter that went away after the 4-wheel job. You should hold off until you replace the fronts, it's pretty expensive.

Re: my cadillac is low in the back

Ok thanks when they put my rear ones on you could tell the difference. The day after when my rear struts hit a bounce you hear a clicking when it hits the bounce and the car looks like it never had new struts. After the put them on the car leveling light doesn't come on so I'm assuming its my bcm cause I have a dash gage problem. But the front bouncyness kinda stopped a little but isn't that bad. So I don't know?

Re: my cadillac is low in the back

I got all new struts put onn and they shop charged me 200 for labor and I had my own part. The bad news is my lac is still low and the compressor seems to have died . Or is it my leveler . I don't hear an air leak anymore I'm going to trouble shoot it tomoorow. Also sine I had a bad strut the shop gave me a 4 wheel alignment for free.

Re: my cadillac is low in the back

There are three main parts to the leveling system (note it is a level and not a lift system)--the leveling sensor that tells the air compressor which side is low, the air compressor and lines, and the shocks. You can test activate the leveling system by sitting in the rear left seat and then moving to the right seat while the engine is running, then see if the leveling indicator comes on, listen for the pump, etc.

Re: my cadillac is low in the back

Ok thanks I have the service manual for my car and it says there is a pressure limiter valve which is located behind the glove box in the dash. What does that have to do with the compression system. Could that also make it not raise the back end

Re: my cadillac is low in the back

I'm still having problems with this leveling system I tested the compressor with the car off I found the ground and the main 12v source and it came on I found the leveler under the rear right seat which goes in the trunk and out of it. Also I noticed that the air line goes in the trunk and out on a wiring harness but I thought the air lines was outside the car when does it go inside the interior towards the trunk. I sanded and reconnected the levelers ground nothing. Does any one know how to ajust the leveler or can it be done with one end of the car raised. Also where is the relay for the compressor. The book says its under the instrument panel in the interior but I found one next to the compressor. Any help would be great
