Actually, the '89-'93 Devilles are up to 500lbs lighter than their '00-'05 counterparts. In fact, the '91 Deville was even lighter than the '91 Corvette ZR1. After the switch to the FWD platform in 1985, the "Old Boat" Cadillac was no more. The older cars have less top speed, simply because they have a higher co-effcient of drag, and less horsepower to work against that drag (a '90 Deville only had 180bhp, a '00 had 275). But they're not really that much slower, I know a 4.9L powered Deville has no trouble hitting its 112mph limiter.

180hp is a big difference between 275hp. If I'm not mistaken some of the 00'-05' Devilles went as high as 290+hp. Thanks for the info, you learn something new everyday. Anytime I have a question or a problem about my car, the first thing I do is get answers on this board. Because, this forum has so many members that have so much experience. I don't feel comfortable driving anything else, it has to be a Caddy and I'm not talking about those euro trash looking V6 Caddy's either (CTS..those are not really Caddies IMO). I'm a tall person and I feel very comfortable driving a "full sized" Caddy.

I still think the 89-93 Deville is the best generation DeVille ever made. Regardless if it has less HP than the Northstar equipped ones.

My dream car would be a 1993 Sixty Special Ultra with all the options including sunroof with the Dark Red exterior and red or black interior. . That combination is almost impossible to find. Someday I will find one though.

Like Dave said, they're just better quality, although I do have to say. I like the CTS-V. .

    I agree. I am 6'6". I couldn't see myself scrunched in a CTS.

That my height as well. Plus, a 'real' caddy is the only car wide enough so I can put my size 14 between the door and the seat....I like to cruise leaned back with my left leg/foot between the seat and door. The CTS is not a 'Caddy' in my book, even if has a v8.

Somewhere on here... a guy cut the bottom off a grill and put it on the bumper. Looked pretty good.

Not true. LOL http://blstb.msn.com/i/40/9B78A3C8AA...7C69DD24C6.jpg THAT is the worst Caddy ever made. Calling it a Caddy makes my tongue burn. Haha

(And that is possibly the most flattering picture of a Cimarron ever....)

Lol, I agree. I remember people hated them. I don't think they sold many.

The Catera I see all over the place for sale for 1 grand or less in running condition, I guess that says something about them.
