2000 Deville Wheels and Tires

Remove this ad
I recently purchased a 2000 Deville with the base silver and polished aluminum wheels. The wheels and center caps have a rash or two, and I'm not too fond of them anyway. I wondered if anyone had attempted to remove the silver paint (or powdercoat, as the case may be) and polish the rim back out, or if someone had another cost-effective suggestion on how to dress this thing up a little. I'm not having much luck finding factory Caddy rims that are of a different style, or that are in any better condition than what I've got.

On a similar note, it's going to be time to put new tires on soon. I've read through some of the threads RE tires, and I've noticed quite a few suggestions to go back to the factory type Michelins. I'm not likely to do this because of past poor experiences with Michelin's closed shoulder tread causing hydroplaning. What other tires would you recommend? I've had fairly good luck with Kumho tires on the Impala I drove previously, but it didn't weigh nearly as much as the Deville. I'd prefer something that was quiet, and if I had to choose, I'd prefer a softer compound with good wet traction and a lower milage rating over a really hard tire.

Michelin Hydo-Edge I have a set and they are the shizz. Directional tires though. THey are one price range above the Symetry Michelins which are the factory tires

Visit CARDIO DOC's website and/or EBAY store - he has a vast range of all the wheels that came on Caddies through the years - and also tells you which styles fit which year and model of Caddy. Don't know if you've seen or heard of VOGUE Tyres, but I'm attaching a pic of them on my '97 Deville, I bought some original chromed rims from the 2002 Deville and VOGUES from Cardio doc last year and so far, those VOGUES give a superior, cushioned ride over the factory Michelin Symmetrys that came with my car.

I have to agree the vogues ride smooth and corner very nice. I put on some michelins for this summer and the ride is not as good. Once winter gets here the michelins are coming off so the studs can go on.
