| 2000 Deville Wheels and Tires I recently purchased a 2000 Deville with the base silver and polished aluminum wheels. The wheels and center caps have a rash or two, and I'm not too fond of them anyway. I wondered if anyone had attempted to remove the silver paint (or powdercoat, as the case may be) and polish the rim back out, or if someone had another cost-effective suggestion on how to dress this thing up a little. I'm not having much luck finding factory Caddy rims that are of a different style, or that are in any better condition than what I've got.
On a similar note, it's going to be time to put new tires on soon. I've read through some of the threads RE tires, and I've noticed quite a few suggestions to go back to the factory type Michelins. I'm not likely to do this because of past poor experiences with Michelin's closed shoulder tread causing hydroplaning. What other tires would you recommend? I've had fairly good luck with Kumho tires on the Impala I drove previously, but it didn't weigh nearly as much as the Deville. I'd prefer something that was quiet, and if I had to choose, I'd prefer a softer compound with good wet traction and a lower milage rating over a really hard tire. |
