When I First Got My Car Last Year This Warning Came On I ReplAced My Gas Cap And Now About 5 Months Later The Warning Is On My Dash Again I Know There Is Know Way This Cap Went Bad That Fast And The Cap Is On Tight What Do You Think It Could Be

Always start by pulling the codes. Might be a problem with the EVAP system.

sorry yesterday was my first day on here still trying to get the hang of it.

and i also went and got the codes and it did say the evap system had a leak and i know its not the gas cap cause i just replaced it this year so i geuss i need to take it to the dealer how much do you think this might cost to get fixed

ok im gonna have to go back to auto zone and get them to write it down for me he just said it was a leak in my evap system

Autozone would be one way to display the codes.

Or you could read them yourself from the DIC. See post #2 here

and i got alot of history codes but my current codes are

ipm b0429
pcm p0440
pcm p0442

I think the P0440 is the Evap Sensor up on the engine. Had the same prob with my '99 Deville. It was a relatively cheap fix at the dealer, if I remember.

P0440 and P0442 can both be caused by leaks. Double check all the vacuum hoses and connections in the evap. plumbing.

ok thanks i dont know to much about working on cars so i dont even know which hoses to check so im gonna have to take it to a shop

There is/was a factory recall for Seville/Deville in the '01-'03 series for a faulty fuel tank pressure sensor. This will trigger the "fuel cap" code. Check your VIN with any dealer's GM service history computer files to see if the recall was done. There MAY be a GM "campaign" sticker on the water pump belt guard....recall #03038, I think.....
