About 2-3 weeks ago some times when i would turn the car on it would shake some but after i backed out and drove off it went away. Now it stays shaking - while im drivin, at lights and stop sign. I bought the car about 6-7 months ago with 54,XXX miles on it. Ever since the only thing iv done to it is changin the oil(which iv done about twice)
Today i pulled these codes -
P0300 - Engine Misfire Detected - Current
P0325 - PCM Knock Sensor Circuit - History
P1520 - Transmission Range Switch Circuit - History
P1527 - Transmission Range to Pressure Switch Correlation - History
Any help is apreciated... |

Had it on my '97 Deville right after the rail was changed. New wires solved the problem.
A leaky head gasket will also cause that symptom. Coolant level staying up? Any steam from the exhaust? Any bubbles in the surge tank? Any overheating? |

Based on adding coolant monthly and going into limp home mode, I'd have the coolant tested for exhaust gases or get a cylinder pressure test done. |

If a head gasket is bad you will see bubbles long before it heats up (almost immediately). Bubbles are a definite sign of a bad head gasket, but vice versa is not a definite sign that they are good. You should be able to leave tha cap off under normal conditions for several minutes (til the coolant temp gets up to normal temp. After that, being unpressurized, it will boil pretty quickly and you'll have to cap it up fast. If the level starts rising after it gets hot, it's time to cap it. |

If that turns out OK, check the usual, purge line, belt tensioner, cap etc.
If the fuel rail recall has been done, the rail will be stainless steel vs black nylon. If not, get it done. |

Age: 61 | | | Re: 1997 deville(do i need a tune-up???) have codes The water pump on the Northstar is on the rear of the engine (drivers side), and is driven off of the intake cam shaft via a narrow drive belt. There is a spring loaded tensioner with a pulley on it to keep belt tension tight. If the pivot rusts and binds, it will not provide tension and the belt will slip causing the pump to turn slower, thus reducing coolant flow and causing over heating. Not too likely, but a possibility.
The purge line is the 3/8" line that runs from the water pump housing (crossover manifold) along the front cam cover (under the silver beauty cover) to the top side of the surge tank. Start the engine (cold) and pull the line off of the surge tank. It should have coolant flow. If it does, quickly plug it back on so a not to make a big mess. If not, shut it down, locate and clear the obstruction. It's purpose is to purge any air from the system and route it to the surge tank where it can be vented.
The fuel rail is under the silver beauty cover. It splits into two legs, one running along each side of the intake manifold to feed 4 fuel injectors on each side. While your there, see the small canister (FPR) on the rail? Pull the vacuum line while at idle and see if there is an fuel leaking out of the nipple. If so the FPR needs to be replaced.
Hard to tell if you need a tune up or not yet. How many miles on it? Was the fuel rail replaced? Have we ruled out head gaskets yet? |

Rule out the head gaskets and we can go from there. |
