Storage Mode

OK, flipping thru the onboard computer on my 1997 DeVille I came across the "convenience package". What is "Storage Mode" ? When do you enable it?

BTW the programmable convenience items are:

1. Double flash lights with remote unlock.
2. Single flash lights with remote lock.
3. Lock all doors with shift into Drive.
4. Unlock all doors with shift into Park.
5. STORAGE MODE.

It is used when you will not be using the car for a while and want to put at little use on the battery as possible. It only lets the minimum amount of power go to the devices that actually need it.

Its designed as a built-in stop-gap measure if your going to be storing the car for an extended period of time. However, I dont really recommend using just that feature alone if youre REALLY putting the car away for a while.

For that, your best bet is to put the battery on a trickle charger that will maintain a solid charge level, then put in a fuel stabilizer so the gas does not gum up or rust the internals due to water infiltration, and if the car is going to be kept inside, dont close the doors all the way. By shutting them just to the point before they are fully latched, youll maintain the elasticity of your door seals and prevent future leaks and cracks.
