Re: How to replace a LF window regulator on a 1994 Deville Concours?

I'm not sure about how the regulator works however, I do know how you can get to it. The interior door panel needs to come off; the panel comes off by pushing it up from the bottom. Make sure you remove the window, seat, and mirror control panels first and pop off the clip that holds the plastic corner sail panel by the mirror. Also CARFULLY remove the pastic panel with the power lock controls and unplug the wiring harness. Pop off the two plastic covers on either end of the door-pull handle and remove the screws with philips screw driver. After doing this, CARFULLY lift from the bottom. Once the panel as come off, CARFULLY pull the panel far enough away from the door to pull the two speaker connectors off. Put the panel someplace safe, along with the power controls. In order to get to the power window equipment you need to pull back the black rubber sound absorber panel. It is stuck on with a black, gummy, tar like substance. Again, be careful with this as well.

If you do a search on here, you will likely find 1000 similar posts.

Also, the older cars used to be real good about chopping your fingers off. I don't know if more recent models are as quirky.

Have you tried pounding on door to make sure you really have a problem?

Re: How to replace a LF window regulator on a 1994 Deville Concours?

I just did this last spring. It was very easy. Here is a summary from factory service manual:

1. remove switch plates by using a feeler gauge (or small screw driver) to dissengage the clips to the rear of the switch panels. Push the blade into and under the switch plate about 3/4 inch to dissegage. Then pull out the switch plates and disconnect wires.

2. Remove the plastic rear view mirror cover. It kind of pops off.

3. Remove the door panel by pulling in and up. There are several plastic hooks that hold it in place.

4. Remove water deflector.

5. Remove and replace window regulator (motor).

The hardest part is getting the switch plates off without scratching up the arm rest. A thick feeler gauge worked great for this.
