I am thinking about getting one of those built in garage door openers for a 2000-05 deville. how do they install? do they just fit into the slot or is it more complicated than that? If you have one already, are you happy with it? |

Make sure that you get the one with the AMBER light for rolling cosdes. It just plugs into the overhead slot. You have to remove the cover first. Programming is very simple, instructions on Homelink.com. I love it! Had one ijn my 1998 Deville. |

The older homelink units with a red led light are not compatible with these doors. Get the Homelink with the amber light and it will work with any garage door opener. |

I know this is an old thread but since it has been semi revived, thought I would ask my question here instead of starting a new one. I have a 92 DeVille and it does have the factory garage door opener, but it is different than all the ones I see for sale on Ebay. It has just one button on the left and then on the right a little slide thing with 3 little dots. The button has been pushed in apparently too far and does nothing, now maybe I could take it apart and fix it, but was wondering if I could replace it with one of the 3 button ones instead. I have read that there are 2 different ones, red or amber light for rolling codes or not, how do you determine if your garage door opener is rolling codes or not?
Sorry if these are dumb questions, I did a forum search and didn't find anything specific. I'm new to the Cadillac world, thanks.

Rolling code garage door openers don't have the little white pin switches for programming. They usually have one button(colored) with an LED light beside for programming. Take a look at yours, you will see what I mean.
The cadillac transmitters come in two forms one with red LED light(old style none rolling code) and amber LED light(works with rolling codes).
Hope this helps. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
