Rough idle when hot

I have a 1994 Cadillac Concours. 155,000 Miles
Had a problem the other day that i could not get the car to start, when I finally did the engine ran very rought and it was surging.
After a few hours when the engine cooled I was able to drive it home(10-15min) but just as i got home it started to surge again

Today i put the car in the drive way and let it just run. After exactly 20 min the rpm's started going up and down, under the hood i could see the computer changing the throttle, trying to compensate i guess.
The engine became very erractic and I shut it off when i noticed smoke, which was comming from residue buring off the exhaust pipes and catalytic converter which appeared to be very hot. I also checked the Fuel Pressure Regulator, i took the engine cover off and turned the ignition to ON but didn't start. No fuel came out, I even put a vacuum pump on it and it held a small vacuum for 10 min and no fuel was present. There does appear to be a minor amount of oil coating everything under the engine cover, does that mean anything?

The spark plugs and wires are new, as is the MAP sensor which went bad 2 months ago. 2 weeks back i got a code for a rich fuel system (P080) but that went away when i reprogrammed the PCM with the procedure I read some similar posts on here.

Also I have no computer codes, when it first gave me a problem i had P032, it became a history, I cleared it and it has not returned.

Re: Rough idle when hot

Waited a few hours, cleared the PCM codes and tried restarting the car. Only ran erraticly for a few seconds then stalled.
Spit out the following codes:
P032 Map sensor open
P031 Map sensor shorted
P071 Intermittent Map signal

Should i assume the new sensor is bad or could it be a PCM problem?

Re: Rough idle when hot

Well if your part has warranty just take it back for another one and see if the problem comes back.

Re: Rough idle when hot

A bad MAP sensor may be causing a rich condition, thus hot pipes.

Re: Rough idle when hot

replaced the map and the car is running fine...

One question..
The map sensor for my car has the letters C B A above the pins but my wiring harness ahs the order as A B C. If this is on backwards would it cause a MAP sensor failure even though it operates fine now? Also there are no PCM codes such as shorted, open or intermittent
