I have a 2000 Deville, and my back, center speaker is blown. I need to get it replaced, but I need to confirm what kind I need. I went to Cadillac and of course it would cost me like $650 to get it replaced. I went to best buy and talked to the car audio guy, and he said that if they are Bose speakers, then I can't replace the one speaker. I am pretty sure my speakers are not Bose, none of them are marked. So then I went to Fry's electronics, and talked to the installer which said that it is a 10" freeair speaker (without taking a look at my car). So I would just like to confirm that I need a new 10" freeair speaker. Also, im thinking about putting subs and a box in my trunk, but I don't realy know anything about sound systems. So could someone explain them to me? thanks. |

I hear you have to take the back seat out and that panel back there to get to the speaker. I have taken the back seat out though, to find the battery.hahahaha it took us forever to find that thing. maybe its just the sub i used, others may have had better luck or experience with it but...
anyways i used a wooden spacer and since they are cut square i had to round off two of the edges (i didnt have any tools so i didi it the ghetto way, i looked like a caveman sittin there grinding wood against concrete haha. but it came out smooth hehe)
i didnt have dynamat so i ultimately disconnected it cause it didnt perform to my liking (and it rattled the deck) |

How does the sound system sound without it? Also, could a system in the trunk make up for it? |

i disconnected the blown factory sub cause it made a caca noise but its not that easy to put a aftermarket system in, the wiring (power ground remote) is easy its the signal thats not so easy |
