Need Advice - Buying 1995 Deville

Buying used Deville, 1995, for my daughter. Need advice on what to look for. I am not famliar with the 4.9 L engine and need to know if there are any obivous things to look for. I know with my Eldorado that a bad battery can manifest itself in many ways. Are there any quirks with this era Deville.

I appreciate any suggestions offered.

4.9's are very reliable. '95 has green coolant and should have been changed every 2 years (important for head gaskets).

Hi,i own a 1995 Deville.The 4.9 engine is a quite reliable one "if it was properly maintained over the years".
I was fortunate to have purchased mine from my aunt who had this Caddy maintained very well.I`ve got all her service records for the time she owned the vehicle.
On the other hand everyone takes a chance when buying a used vehicle---it`s mechanical and eventually parts will wear out.
I recently had all the major hoses replaced (radiator hoses,oil cooler lines,tranny cooler lines etc.)---all were original,so being 12 years old they were all drying out and i figure i have saved myself the hassle of future towing fees by replacing them BEFORE they rupture.
When or before you get your '95 Deville---have a good look under the hood and check all your rubber hoses closely.
I hope you get a good '95 Deville----i still see many of them on the road.

Thanks for the input pompste and Ranger. Bought the Deville yesterday. Wanted to go through everything again when we got home, but my daughter took the car and came home sometime early this morning. For the price, we can afford to do quite a bit in the way of repairs if required. I'll be contributing to this forum as things come up.
