interior running lights and turn signal indicator

I recently replaced the rear running and turn signal light socket on a 1994 Sedan DeVille, in doing so I removed the sensor for the interior brake and running light indicator that you can see by glancing in the rear view mirror. The new socket works well but after reinserting the sensor, (with great difficulty), I noticed the interior indicator was not working properly. Do I need to replace the sensor, and if so what is that part called, because I could not find it @ rockauto.com.?
