    I'm a little disappointed.

Well ever since I've had my DTS I knew there had been some damage to the right side. I didn't know what or how much but there are marks on the bottom plastic of the rear quarter and the wood trim on the right front door just never looked like it matched the rest of the car.

CarFax revealed nothing. So I was out applying a quick coat of PolySeal spray when I noticed a run on the rear lip of the right front fender. This pretty much confirms that the whole side had damage of some kind.

What a bummer. I knew a 5 year old car with 24k on it was too good to be true. So I'm disappointed that my car is not as pristine as originally thought.

Now i wonder if it's worth doing the mods I have planned.

    Re: I'm a little disappointed.

So it was in an accident. So what. If the quality of the repair was excellent, then it makes no difference. A car that has been hit doesn't necessarily make it the unwanted step-child. I figured out that my car was hit after I bought it. It appears that the whole right side was wiped out. There are a few minor things that stand out. But the car is definitely a keeper. The auto body industry has come along way from the 50's and 60's technology. Back then you didn't want to buy a wrecked car. But nowadays cars come out of the body shop as good (or sometimes better) as before the wreck.

    Re: I'm a little disappointed.

Thanks for the reassurance. I do believe the car was repaired correctly and almost without trace. I've been over the car pretty carefully inside and out and couldn't find anything until today and a run is pretty minor I guess.

The car looks and drives like new so I guess you're right. It was just a bummer.

I do not know if it is possible, but have an auto body man look at the run. If he (or she ) can determine that it is in the clear coat, and not the color coat, it can be wet sanded out. If it is in the color, and you wet sand it smooth, you are in t r o u b l e.

Oh man. Don't toss it aside. Because you thought it was perfect showed that the car is well enough to make you think so. If you're not sure about doing mods because the car might not last, take it to a mechanic and ask him for a very thurough (sp?) look at the underbody and whatnot. Then you can see how well it was repaired and make your modding decision from there.

    Re: I'm a little disappointed.

I'm going to go forward. I don't think the car was bent up or anything I think it was a sideswipe kind of thing. May have even happened in a parking lot or something.

She's a keeper I guess. You're right, if it looks good enough for me to think it's perfect then there's no reason to believe that there';s anything wrong.

    Thanks
