    Re: Wire mesh material

Yeah I found some online too. I guess my question is doesn't anyone know the sizing and gauge specs of the actual grills.

I'm going to be doing some work to the DTS. Vogue has a mesh grill for the car but I want to fill in or at least cover the lover vents between the fog lights with the same material. My effort is to create a DTS-V if you will.

BTW the grill will not be the only mod.

Check with luvmy03caddy in the CTS section he makes lower mesh grilles for the CTS, he should know.

    Re: Wire mesh material

Frig, now that I have spoken with Vogue, they're telling me they don't make the grill for the 01. Only 04 and newer. Damn it.

    Re: Wire mesh material

Does anyone know what the specs are on the V grills?

Gauge of steel, spacing, bend types, weld types?

It looks like I'm going to have to get one made. CAD drawings would be great

    Re: Wire mesh material

Sorry that I can't help you Codewise, but I DID want you to know that I'll be interested in your end result - on all fronts.

I've shot my bolt as far as mods for this season and they've pretty well all been appearance related, but next year I'm tackling the performance end of things. I'd like to get a proper cone filter intake set-up, lower the car and stiffen up the suspension a-la Hitmoney's ride and upgrade the brakes. Finally, I want to fill in the opening that stretches across the lower front end of my car - probably with a mesh between the foglights..

A DTS-V, eh? If you pull this one off, keep all your drawings and specs handy - I have no doubt that there will be a path beaten to your front door by a crowd of DTS owners, wanting the same look and performance!

    Re: Wire mesh material

I came up with this idea back in 2004. Here is my attempt. 99 Concours mesh grille
I looked high and low and at the time no one made a mesh grille insert for the 99'. I looked at mesh manufactures for mesh fabric and even measured a CTS mesh grill for the weave spacing. Anyway I gave up and ended up attaching it to the backside of the grille and the lower section. The attempt was to add style, but also function (did you ever have road debris fly through your front grille and lodge into the AC conden$er) enough said. Good luck, I'll be watching for the results.

    Re: Wire mesh material

LOL That's the second place i saw with that photo. Those are the ones from Vogue. I spoke with my inside sales rep yesterday and he swears that a grill form an 04 will absolutely not fit into an 01. I'm going to ask him to send me one and return it if it doesn't work.

The other place I saw was 2000-05 Cadillac Deville Classic Mesh Grille - E&G Classic: U.S. SPEED

As you can see it's the same photo and the car has vogues on it. That's the actually photo form the Vogue web site.

Thanks for providing that resource. It may be helpful.

    Re: Wire mesh material

I don't see why a 2004 Grille couldn't fit a 2001. The mounting points may be different, such as the header panel or core support, but I'd not suspect much is different if at all.

    Re: Wire mesh material

No problem. I got to the bottom of it. I went to the source, E&G Classics. According to them the grills are all exactlly the same from 2000 - 2005 so my man at Vogue is wrong.
