Here's a challenge for you, Turbomangt,,,,

,,,,,I just noticed that my window tint on the driver's window has been scratched through - in 2 places, with one of the scratches almost 2 inches long. Do you have anything in your bag of tricks that could repair it? Or any suggestions?

Or do I look for replacing that tint - and how difficult would it be to replace it? I'm thinking it'll be kinda hard, seeing as how the tint is nigh on 10 years old now,,,,,and was done in Florida,,,,,and not knowing how dark the tint really is (% of tint, etc.)

We used to get a lot people wanting their tint replaced because of scratches, we used a mobil tint company and they use to remove tint that was on there for years. I have seen some companies that "patched" areas, but it never looked great.

thanks, Carl = guess i got some homework to do this morning, calling around the tint shops - wonder what the cost is for one window? and how long it'll take? And if they can actualy match what's on all the other windows,,,,or will i have to go and swap out all the rest, pick something new and carry on from there,,,,hmmmmm wonder what the car would look like with all 'silver" tint? Probably too "pimpin'",,,,,

I agree with hcvone, you will have to replace it. I'm sure they have ways to remove it with no problem. gk

great day of investigative reporting, folks: BEST PRICE for changing out the scratched panel? 100 bucks. DRAWBACK: they can't match the rest of the tint 'cuz of it's age. BEST PRICE for complete swap-out of all panels? 800 bucks. DRAWBACK: nothing wrong with the rest of the panels and they said they had to SCRAPE the old tint off. QUESTION: What does that scraping do to the little heating filaments in the rear window?

I was looking into re-doing my tint for darker. Cost me $180 + - the 1st time.. but they said it was near impossible to scrap the rear window due to the heating strips. But you could just have the sides re-done.. What's it really matter if they turn out a little lighter than the rest? I have a fade on mine.. Lightest in the front and darkest for the rear window. $800 is crazy!
