    Paint touch up

This fender was scraped and the procedure was simple. using the factory touch up paint and NOT the bursh they give you, get yourself an artist brush from a craft store, thin the paint with laquer thinner, and apply paint, here is a job I did with same procedure. sure beats spending hundreds of dollars at a body shop.

I never liked those in-the-bottle brushes either! glob...glob! Do you follow up with a clear coat, and how do you apply it?

How do you feel about masking the area, and spraying the scratch in? I have not tried this yet, but plan on giving it a shot. It seems as though the masking will be difficult, as it will be a minute area. But, it would also seem, that the finished product, would look much more professional. What ya think?

    Re: Paint touch up

Sometimes spraying will work if the defect is in an area not as noticeable, for example I wouldn't spray the hood, on the other hand I have sprayed lower rocker panels that were scuffed by a huge rock, it came out fine. They also sell clear in a bottle, which is optional. as far masking, yes it would not make sense to mask a rock chip to spray. remember the "less is best" approach, applies to paint AND detailing chemicals. to much paint in an area will be an eyesore. and with spraying its hard to control that.
