Hi. I am a new member with recently purchased 1985 Eldorado Biarritz convertible black on red with black top. I would like to freshen up the vinyl dash. Of course, I know about prepping with wash, vinyl prep and adherance agent. But I am stuck as I do not know what color vinyl spray one would use for the red interiors. I am thinking of using SEM Firethorn Red, but it is just a bit off - a little too much toward orange. Maybe SEM Portula Red is the one. Maybe another manufacturer's product is better ? If anyone has had experience and good luch
choosing a color spray for the red interiors that matches, could you let me know? Much appreciated. Great site. Thank you.
Cannot send photos (embarrassed) because the dash top is off and back seat being reupholstered.
Welcome to the Forums! There several members who have used SEM on their leather seats. I don't recall if any of them were red. I am sure a member will be along shortly with some insight on re-dying your vinyl and leather.
Thank you, Orconn. Actually today I took the top dash to my local automotive paint supply where I had ordered the vinyl prep and soap. They can actually
mix the plastic/vinyl paints themselves. We looked for a place on the dash where it had been covered for all these years and found the true color. They are going to mix it to that exact color. It is pricey, but it's a one time deal, so I don't mind. Thanks for your input.
Thank you. I think they transferred my question to that department. But, I got my local automotive paint supply to do a special order mix to the original
color on a non-faded part of the dash. That should solve the problem. It is a little pricey, but since it is a one time affair, I feel that it is worth it. Thanks
for your input.
