And hehehe I just got a bunch of 5% window tint at Wal-Mart. Some will be on the house, some is going onto the car. F the law. :)
Mississippi just outlawed ALL tinting. At least that's what the weekend TV reporter said.
They just like to write tickets down there.
EDIT: Here's a link. Looks like this is just some more legislation geared around generating revenue.
I just got a fix it ticket here in san diego for having every window tinted including the very front. The officer gave me six weeks to fix it.
Post pics if you can....I want to see how 'bad' it was.
Did he pull you over specifically for the tint?
Looks like the six (6) weeks
are up. :yup:
Did you do anything? :suspense:
Or are you still rolling in full tint ?
Watch out for that same Cop.
There is alot more to the tint law than just percentages. Here is the link to check current and detailed restrictions. Some states have changed so check locally or from a long time tinting company..don't trust the police with the laws, they have no idea most of the time what is legal or not.
idk about every state but at least in delaware you can go to the eye doctor and get a "tint waiver" that is then given to dmv to sign and copy they keep a file on it, then you put a copy in your car and you can tint your windows however dark you want (all of them) all you tell you eye doctor is your eyes are sensitive to light especially when driving. i did it for my jeep and am about to have it transfered to the caddy. btw i am not really sensitive to light but the doc couldnt tell and wrote it out for me. ill post the form if you guys dont believe me.
That doesn't work in most states. Doctors excuse or not you can still get a ticket on state codes. State laws are different than city..here the tint can be 50% for the front and any on the back but if a cop says he couldn't see into your car, it's a ticket.
Yeah, remember, they'll do whatever they want. Bottom line! I think the discrete look is the way to go. I still don't have mine tinted and like the fact that I don't have to worry about the police. I still would like to slightly tint them all the way around though. I guess if I were a hot lookin' chick, it would be all good, unless I got pulled over by a female officer. lol. The only problem I have with the doctor's note is that you still might get pulled over and checked out which isn't cool. I mean, it's probably in their computer in the car but I don't think they will care. :histeric:
I just got a ticket last week for my 2 side windows. The cop wrote it up as obstruction of vision. 2 points and a $100 fine is the penalty. This is my 4th tint ticket but the first one that was ever written up for points.
here in Ny they can be strict, depends on where u livin. if ur in a smaller area or rural area where cops have nothing better to do then hassle u over tint , then yea it could cause a problem. but up here in the cities, at least in my imo, they dont hassle you as much, seems as if they have better or more serious things to do. i used to own a grand cherokee with 5 percent all around, bass and all that and never was pulled over.
The Day After X-mas i put 5% everywhere but the windshield they werent on for 2 months before police made me take them off but in MD 35% is the legal tint and you can see straight through it so what the hell i figure go all or nothing cause its coming off regaurdless.
Yikes....that must have been an expensive couple of months!
I hope it doesn't happen to my wife, her new car has some pretty dark tint all the way around (except windshield). The reciept says the dealership put it on.
FWIW: Anything darker than 20% and you will have trouble backing up at night.
Hint: If a cop pulls you over at night, turn on your dome light as soon as you see the blinkety blues. He will be much easier to get along with if he can see inside.
