    Re: 22s on 96 cadillac

Your Deville does not have "air ride". It uses an Automatic Level Control to compensate for extra weight in the rear seat or trunk - defeat it and the rear sags. ALC/ELC is separate from the suspension control.

Let's say that your original tire size had a 27" outside diameter. As long as you keep that tire OD you can put any size wheel on the car and suffer no suspension problems as long as you're careful with treadwidth and section width to prevent fenderwell rubbing in turns.

Going to excessively large wheels creates a problem or two: With 16" wheels and a 27" tire OD there is 5.5" of air/rubber between the wheel and road. With 22's there is 2.5" of air/rubber between the wheel and the road: ride and handling suffer. Go to a larger OD tire to recover a bit of ride comfort and the larger tire diameter changes speedo readings, engine load management and transmission shift points.

Please don't put 22"'s on your Deville that's all.
