New 2011 V sedan, 1st coat of Zaino

Just got my 2011 CTS-V sedan last week. 1st coat of zaino yesterday, and it looks great !

Also had my windows tinted by Serious Autosport in Palm Beach. They really did a fantastic job with the TinT. Very black in color. 5% rear window, rear passenger windows, and ultraview roof. 20% passenger window's, and 50% Crystalline ( sp?) on the windshield. The heat reduction is dramatic.

The car looks great! Black cars are super sharp with tinted windows. I LOVED my black '09 when it was clean. Unfortunately, in West Texas, that would last for 10-15 minutes. I compromised on the ZR1 and went with cyber gray.

Get some D3 springs on it! Congrats on the new car.

    Your car looks amazing!

I just got my order of Zaino for both of our black Cadillacs. Did you use Z2 or Z5? I ordered both, but was unsure which one would go better with black. My favorite has always been the Z2. It lasts a very long time and makes the paint look amazing. I have used all the waxes out there over the last 15 years and nothing makes paint pop like Zaino.

    Thanks guys

When I bought the car at the dealer, it was dirty and I asked the sales rep to please NOT wash or wax the car to prep it for me. I am quite particular on black paint, and I hate it when you can see tiny fine scratches from washing with a dirty mitt, or a bad detailing job.

Much to my dismay, when I got out of the finacing office the car was all prepped, clean, and fine scratches

Whatever. I took her home, and spent a few hours washing with dawn, then Z-aio with my porter cable random orbital buffer. Z-6 to finish it off.

Now it looks really good. Not perfect, but almost. I will likely order and apply a couple of coats of Z5 with Z-FX, then a couple coats of Z2 with ZFX, then Z6 or Z8.

If I am still see or am bothered by those fine "scratches" I may start all over with Z-PC.

We'll see. I think for the most part, Z5 followed by Z2 would be a great way to go...

As in dish soap? Is this a trick I don't know about? I was always told to never wash a car with dish soap. Can't argue with the end result, looks fantastic.

Dish soap strips what wax is still on there.

Yeah, Dish soap removes the old wax. I wouldn't want to apply a new coat of wax or polish on top of some old crappy stuff.

Anytime I am "starting over", I wash with Dawn. After a new coat of wax/polish, you should NOT use dish soap. I routinely use Meguiars gold class or the Zaino car wash..

Concur. I do it in the spring when the vehicles come out of hibernation.

I do use Griots 1 through 4 polishes after the Dawn wash, then go with the Zaino...I cannot tell the difference between the two Zaino's...so I alternate between them.

I have a Black truck that is a garage queen and she get four or five coats of Zaino annually.

I would love to find someone in the St. Louis or Chicago area that would do the full clay/zaino treament to my wife's black V. I do not have the time, skills or patience for it, and around where we live it REALLY needs about 10 coats I think.

I guess if anyone in those areas reads this and wants to talk, PM me. :-)

By the way, the car looks great.
