    Professionally Painted Northstar Engine Covers

First off, I'd like to say I did talk to Mr. Sal Colascione III (forum owner)
about the following service and he gave me the ok to post it in the forums. - Thanks

I'm co-owner of a performance auto repair shop/ auto body shop. I'm ASE certified in refinishing and use high-end Sikkens paint products at our shop. We also have a fully downdraft bake booth.

I would like to offer our painting services to the cadillac community. Mainly, I would like to specialize in painting the northstar engine covers for members. The engine cover is the first thing you see when you open the hood. Over time, the engine covers become dull and scratched, or the paint even peels off. Other people may think the silver is just too boring and they want something different. We can do that and I think members would like the service.

I can custom mix any color you want. I have a full mixing bank of Sikkens toners. I can paint them a shiny, brilliant silver, or the same color of your car from your paint code, or even pearls, whatever you decide. Every engine cover would then be clearcoated. I can custom mix any color you want. I don't just go down to the local Menards and buy a rattle can of some so-called "plastic paint" and use that. There is a very detailed process outlined in the Sikkens TDS manuals that outlines the methods and products needed to paint plastic products. I can tell you step by step what will be done and used if anyone would like to know.

If there are other items that members need painted (fenders, mirrors, door handles, etc.), we can do those also.

The main objective of this post is to gauge any interest in this service. I'm curious to see if this is something other Cadillac owners would be interested in this service. I'd love to offer this service to the cadillac community. If there is enough interest, I plan on becoming a site vendor and doing so.

Please let me know if this is something that the members would be interested in. Thanks again for your time.

    -Performance Plus Automotive (Jason)

Hmmm, it appears that Race21 has not returned to the forum since last April. I wouldn't hold my breath on those pics and pricing, guys.

WOW, What happened to Race21?? It's been 2 years and not one revisit to the site after this post. Makes no sense to offer such an in-demand service and disappear.

I don't mean to hijack the thread BUT,,, it has been TWO years. If I knew how to contact Mr. Colascione for permission I could provide the same service. I'm a collision center manager and painter myself. We have full bake capabilities and a top notch mixing bank. Only we use DuPont paints due to thier proven durability. I even painted my drag truck engine block with DuPont exterior car paint and it lasted for years!

I also have access to some specialty adhesion products by DuPont that are absolutely the best!
If I can obtain persmission I'd be glad to provide this service.
Not saying it would be super cheap because after doing mine multi colors I know there are several hours involved in masking and flashing in between coats.
Here are pics of mine. The silver is the factory color of the cover, the white is the tri-coat pearl white that's on the exterior and the black is black. All cleared with one of DuPonts top notch clears.
The scheme and colors would be entirely up to you! You would have to pack it and ship it to me after making arrangements on the paint scheme. After paying me via paypal or something safe I would do my thing and ship it back in your original packing. Shipping to zip code 46902.

That's something I have never thought of. Definitely a nice touch under the hood.

Under the hood is as important as above the hood Or at least I think so.

Re: Professionally Painted Northstar Engine Covers

Maybe he figured out paint doesn't stick to these things. I have a whole stack of really messed up engine covers from paint jobs gone bad. It just doesn't work.

Looks very nice when it's done and if you never drove the car it'd be fine.
