I just picked up a Black 2003 CTS VTXi with some ugly Vogue rims. I was looking for something cleaner, possibly 5 or 6 spoke chrome or satin polish, simple spokes. Potentially even black with a polished lip. Post some pics and show me what you have!
I took a look at their website and called them. I'm a little concerned about their warranty: "Texan Wire Wheels warrants their wire wheels to the original purchaser, under normal and reasonable use, to be free from defects in workmanship, rust, materials and structural integrity for a period of 30 days from the original purchase date." and "Because of our products' distinctly and custom design, they are not intended or designed for general utility use or everyday use. Using our products for general utility or everyday use voids this warranty."
I asked their rep why they put it in their warranty that the wheels were not for daily use and couldn't get an answer other than it protects them from refund/repair requests under the warranty. I wanted to know if there was a technical/mechanical reason for saying this. Do they not have SAE approval? Have they tested these wheels at highway speeds and deemed them dangerous? I understand fair weather wheels, but "Erratic driving or excessive swanging will cause wheels to clack or fail" scares me when "swanging" is what the wheels are known for. They couldn't give me any technical specs or mechanical testing data. When I asked about the manufacturing process, the rep had no idea what I was talking about. Do these spokes not hold up or what?
Come to think of it, I have never seen swangas on the highway, hell I've never seen them outside a car show. Are all swangas trailered from show to show?
I just took my old rims off my car . prob gonna sell the rims and tires for 1000 stock caddy chromes with 2007 center caps wrapped in vogue tyres. check my pic on my car.
i have personally seen swangs on the freeway, i have even seen a line of bout 10 candy red cars on swangs on the left shoulder of the freeway doin 90-100 mph headin to a car show...the original swangs were known for clackin but that is just the 10 outer spoke not the ones on the inside of the rim, i've never heard of them crackin or anything..but the tww rims use a different hub n they new ones arent suppose to clack n r warrentied against clankin..n ur suppose to swang slow:cool2:
I like CadillacNick's and Highway Star's wheels the best. However, factory 14" Wire Caps FTW! IMO, anything else would just look wrong. I wish the wheels were a little bigger though, or at least that the Goodeyear Assurance tires came with white walls.
Thats a deal, assuming the tires were in decent shape.
