I have a 1' split on the corner of the armrest in my '97 SLS. It is right were you grab to close the door form the driver side. The rip is right on the outer edge. Does anyone of a good glue that I could use to fix this seam?

Re: vinyl repair

Glue doesn't really work for vinyl. There's not much you can do for vinyl except replacing it.

Re: vinyl repair

Hey 64 Thanks for the reply.
Attached is the picture of the split it is only an inch or so, and since it appears to be part of the entire door panel I really don't want to replace. I just don't wnat it to get any worse.
Thanks Ed

I don't see a picture... Regardless I think you may be forced to repair it. I've heard Vinyl is amazingly difficult to repair.

Ooooh, well that looks reasonable. I bet you could do that if you really wanted. Just find out how to repair vinyl and be VERY CAREFUL.

Re: vinyl repair

Yeah I agree.
I ordered some vinyl glue and will try to lay it in then tape it while it dries. I'll post how I make out.

Thanks Ed

I wish you luck. I hope it turns out better than how I'm doing. I saw a drivable 1959 Cadillac for only 5 grand! It's depressing...

Re: vinyl repair

Well I received my glue,Sevylor Seam Seal Vinyl Repair. Followed the directions about cleaning and applying the glue. It seems to be holding, we will see how well it holds up.

Re: vinyl repair

Where did you get the glue? Mine is ripped in the same exact place. Every door panel in the junkyard is the same.

Re: vinyl repair

I ordered it from Amazon. I did some reading on line and it seemed to be a pretty durable product.

Good Luck

Re: vinyl repair

Must be a common problem. My 1996 STS has that rip in the same spot as well.

I think I'll try this: http://www.eclecticproducts.com/Automotive.htm
