I just tried some turtle wax rubbing compound on my 92 eldo, trying to get
rid of minor scratches and scuff marks, I think it looks worse than before, it seems to accent the marks now, anyone else had any expeience with this product?.

Re: Didn't work-it's worse

Rubbing compound is for removing orange peel and really nasty stuff before going to lighter and lighter grit polishes. Polishing compound would have been better, but still too aggressive for today's multiple part clearcoat finishes.

Go to www.autogeek.net , make a stiff Scotch and water, and do some reading.

Thanks,it actually is polishing compound, I am afraid to go at it too aggressively because of the clearcoat,I'll have a look at autogeek.

Re: Didn't work-it's worse

You would only want to use polishing compound to repair a bad scuff, and never rubbing compound on a clear coated car. You probably used the product and it was way to aggressive, you will need to use a less abrasive product, and maybe a few of them depending on what damage was done already. Always best when used with something like a Porter Cable or Flex buffer, if you do not have one, you may want to find a good body shop or good detail shop to buff your problem areas out so then it will be easier to keep it looking good.

Re: Didn't work-it's worse

Creeker, there is our Z-AIO, this is an all in one cleaner wax product, it will remove very light scratches with a buffer, or Z-PC is probably what you want, it's more aggressive.
