And it just sticks on with silicone, so that probably wouldn't stay on for long.
I need a new one on my '83. I took mine off and painted it, it came out good as new but the stuff I used to stick it back on melted it  .
you could probably paint yours though. |

(Testors brand). It's just held on by 23 year old silicone, so a tiny screwdriver and a little patience and it will pop off in your hand.
Your '84 has the metal center caps right? You can just paint those too.
But then be careful about what wheel cleaner you use. |
