Question Coke and Aluminum Foil to remove rust spots on chrome?

Remove this ad
Does this really work to rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola?

Re: Coke and Aluminum Foil to remove rust spots on chrome?

If the bumper is rusting nothing is gonna stop it unfortunately. To remove the rust already showing take some good chrome polish, that'll take pretty much anything off.

Re: Coke and Aluminum Foil to remove rust spots on chrome?

I think he just means surface rust?

It might work, but I don't see any reason to try it as chrome polish should take as much or more off.

I have't given it a try but I have heard the same thing as well.
For coke , man wouldn't it be a Pepsi lol
There are some products for re-chroming and I think you can get the best results with them .

Re: Coke and Aluminum Foil to remove rust spots on chrome?

Funny thing...I am browsing here as I watch mythbusters who are about to test this very thing...coke and foil against chrome polish on a bumper!
I'll post again after the segment....
This is too freaky!

Re: Coke and Aluminum Foil to remove rust spots on chrome?

OKay they just showed cola ina bunch of different uses. It cleans up blood better than soap and water and believe it or not it does clean a bumper with surface rust better than a chrome polish. Although, you do need to clean the bumper with soap and water after the soda application cause it leaves a sticky residue. So yes it works according to mythbuster!

Re: Coke and Aluminum Foil to remove rust spots on chrome?

Coke is quite acidic. Most pop is around 2.5 on the pH scale. No wonder it cleans things up!
