Bad Cadillac Purchase Experience from Chris Logan and Bill Smith Cullman, Alabama

Just a buyer beware... Maybe someone will Google this and it will help them from Bill Smith Buick GMC in Cullman, Alabama.

    For what it's worth...

I purchased a 2007 Escalade from Chris Logan, Internet Sales Manager, at Bill Smith Buick GMC. I was told it was in good condition. Chris Logan sold and had the vehicle delivered to me. When the vehicle arrived, it was filthy, had blown head lamp bulbs, and had an exhaust leak. After the excitement wore off, I realized I had been had. The first day, the exhaust manifold heat shield starts dragging the ground...then the belts start squealing. I was told I could bring it in for warranty repair after 30 days to only find out the items needing repair aren't covered. I call to get a refund on the $3500 warranty and they prorate it and offer me $680. It is for now a very expensive drive way decoration. This has been a very embarrassing experience. I'm pretty sure the vehicle wasn't looked over at all before it went out and they were laughing as they left it at my house.

Holy hell man. Those manifolds look HORRIBLE! Sorry you had such a bad experience. I would think, surely the "lemon law" would stand up very well in this case if you chose to go that route.

But playing the devils advocate, they could say buying it online poses it's obvious risks that they shouldn't be held liable for.

I don't know, but looks like a hell of a situation to be in. I hope things work out in your favor.

Ouch. Those manifolds do look horrid. I would be livid if I bought a truck described as nice and it looked that bad. I agree about the lemon law being applicable here. That truck is in pretty bad shape for a newer truck.

The manifolds on my 87 silverado weren't even that bad. I wonder what someone did with that poor escalade.

Lesson learned... not fun having to work on something that is supposed to be in great condition coming from a stealership. The outside and interior look new... wouldn't expect that surprise under the hood.

Flood car - salt water - Gulf ???

Do a deep, deep VIN search.

Unbelievable, I have frequented many a junkyard and have rarely seen rust that bad on a manifold ever, let alone on a car that new. I would bet that Sub hit the nail on the head. Probably a Katrina car that was driven afterward and got to that state. If you can find any proof of that and it was not disclosed you would have easy recourse against the seller. I would be contacting a vehicle appraiser who is experienced with flood vehicles and an attorney.

I feel bad about your bad experience and I hope it doesn't sour you on the joy of owning and driving Cadillacs. Welcome to the forum and sorry to meet under such unfortunate circumstances.

IF it wasn't a flood vehicle someone drove it through alot of salt water for sure. I've seen 30+ year old cars that look better from Michigan. OUCH!!

!BdVl2EQ!mk~$(KGrHqYH-CgEre42zzGLBK4eikC+pQ~~_1.jpg What did the rust of the vehicle look like? Is it a rust bucket too? Never buy a used car without driving it and checking it out or spend 50-100 to have a mechanic look at it. You will need a lot of this and it's cheaper by the gallon.

Remove different interior panels, especially the ones that are close to the floor, and look for signs of flood.
