I am a refugee from Thomas Cadillac in Hartford, CT closing in Feb 09. I had nothing but a positive experience there for 2 cars and 9 years. Searching the area, I have now found a new home at Orr Cadillac in Springfield, MA. Yeah, a bit of a drive up I-91, but worth the trip. Pricing on new 09 DTS was "aggressive" to say the least, with the sales rep providing professional treatment. Trips to the service department to settle nomal new car bugs has been positive, with my experieces having the same professional treatment. Based on experiences I have had from other dealers closer, I will continue the drive up I-91.
Oh well, looks like I need to find another home. Got word in the mail over the weekend that Orr will not have its franchise renewed next year. Another long time dealer gets put out to pasture. Pickings are getting slim in the area. Another pure Caddy dealer to the south of me is on the ropes with its franchise. A few multi-line dealers around. We'll see what happens.
I bought my '05 STS at Orr. I had nothing but a fantastic purchasing experience there. On the flipside, I looked at several other cars at other dealerships, and my girlfriend and I agree that Lloyd was by far the best salesperson as well as the STS was our favorite car of the lot.
I would service there too if it's closer, but I on weekends I am at my girlfriend's in north county so it's a bit of a drive. I wouldn't mind that if I didn't have such a busy schedule, but a long commute like that means less time with the girl and the boys.
Yeah, Lloyd sold me my DTS. He was great. If you picked up the 05 STS I traded in, you got a great car. Real blast to drive.
Your car was the silver v8 1SF with around 40k? I am pretty sure I did buy your old car -- I know for a fact (through my place of work) that it was serviced at bnoth Thomas Cadillac and Scranton Motors. I now have like 55k on it and haven't had a single problem! TY for taking care of it for me.
This is kind of ridiculous. Apparently the dealers in Bennington VT, Northampton, Springfield and Greenfield MA have lost their franchises. The closest dealer is over 50 miles and 90 minutes away from me now.
They should have pulled Cadillac from the Northampton dealer if you ask me. In terms of a luxury buying experience, a smaller dealer that just sells Cadillacs like Orr is the best. I looked at several other cars. At almost all of the others, I had to wait for assistance and the salespeople were extremely rude and so forth. I pull into Orr Cadillac, Lloyd immediately walks over to me, introduces himself and shakes my hand. Not to mention the STS they had was by far my first choice anyway! Orr Cadillac has a great reputation - even in Pittsfield MA which is about 60 miles away. Their Buick dealer was the same way, too bad they closed.
My next car may end up being a Lincoln or a Nissan simply because GM/Cadillac does not want to support the western mass. area.
Yeah, that was my STS! Only service I had at Scranton was the tires changed over. Don't go there. I'll be trying Valenti here in Hartford soon for some routine maintenance. All other service was at Thomas. They were great. Enjoy the car. The paint polishes up very nice!
