King O'rourke Cadillac in Smithtown said to wait 3 weeks for an urgent recall (transmission cable). Is this the norm? I'm new to Cadillac ownership.

Re: Is it difficult in most dealerships to get an appointment?

Not at all. My local dealer, Fitzgerald Cadillac in Annapolis, MD, is easy to get an appointment with, no matter what the car needs.

Hmmmm..... recall...... transmission cable - - - is the replacement part even in the field yet ?

Please update your profile to show car, model, year, approximate location and other information like correct time zone. It sure helps to know what you drive when members try to help you with problem diagnosis.

Welcome to the Funny Farm !!!

Let's move this from the chitchat Lounge to the Cadillac Customer Care forum - maybe they can run interference for you. I just merged your identical thread in CCC - Please do not multiple post the same question. Let one thread work for you. Thanks.

Re: Is it difficult in most dealerships to get an appointment?

My nearest dealer is 360 miles away. You call and make an appointment with no problem. You get in your car and drive down there. They lead you right in and from there your car sits until they get damn good and ready to work on it. What was presented as a one day job morphs into a month and meanwhile you're stranded 360 miles from home. Round trip air fare is about $300 and U.R. Stuck.

Re: Is it difficult in most dealerships to get an appointment?

The solution is simple. I do all my own work. The car is pretty reliable so it doesn't amount to a heck of a lot. PS hose, brakes and pads front and rear, rear differential seals, lube HVAC door positioners, TPMS sensors, driver's seat bezel, driver's seat bottom recovered, shifter indicator lights replaced, rear view mirror fell off, front valence and under tray, miscellaneous body work, and oil changes.

    Hello LIJohn,

I’m sorry you’re having so much difficulty scheduling an appointment. If you’d like to PM me your VIN, mileage, zip code, and contact information, I can look into this from my end.

    Have a great night,

I'm having the same problem in Florence, Al. Not a lot of people buy Cadillacs here and the service shows it. One would expect a little bit of the 'royal treatment' when buying a Cadillac, but there was none of that to be found. I was told today that I'd have to wait 27 days in order to get my 'moldy smell' problem taken care of because they don't have a loner. My Mercedes dealer used to bend over backwards to make me feel appreciated. I'm Very disappointed at this dealership.

Re: Is it difficult in most dealerships to get an appointment?

Cadillac dealerships are independent businesses, do pretty much whatever they feel like, and run the gamut. For the most part you get a lot of glad handing and back slapping but if your needs are going to take some effort or hit their pocketbook they don't know you. If you're a cranky customer and cause them discomfort be prepared to be ignored. Eventually it will seem that you can't even make their phone ring. That being said, there are some great individual dealership employees out there that will go the extra mile for you. They are to be cherished and cultivated.

Your car sits in the back lot in the middle of a big mud puddle until they get damn good and ready to work on it.

My Cadillac dealer just told me 10 days for appointment, so I called a Chevy dealer 20 min away and they got me right in. Told I would have to go to Cadillac dealer for maintenance only. Car was ready in 1.5 hrs and they gave me a loaner to runaround in.
I was told the local dealer was swamped with recalled vehicles and out of loaners.
