Huh?
Based on my understanding, the price difference was VERY negligible, which makes perfect sense from an accounting perspective.
Further, EVEN IF GM was going to pay (cough) retail for upgraded rods and pistons, what are we talking about? Less than $1k? Hell, let's make it an additional $1,000 (don't forget, if they did purchase the upgraded rods & pistons, they would NOT have purchased the lower-end rods & pistons. In other words, it isn't like the cost of the upgrades is an additional cost on top of what's currently there. It is NOW, for people like us who have actually purchased the car, but it wouldn't be for GM, as they're building the stupid thing).
And you think that demand is going to significantly shrink by an ~1% increase in price in this automobile?
LMAO...I highly doubt it.
The aftermarket automotive industry is what...a $250 BILLION dollar industry? And a huge portion of that is people modifying their cars.
Who knows what demand would do if they offered these upgrades, for, perhaps, they could even attract MORE customers, for people could modify the V2s even further without the need to make those changes.
Based on my conversations with people who were working with GM to carry an option on the V2 that WOULD have these upgrades...no, make no mistake about it, they did it for highly dubious, cost saving reasons that even make many conservative accountants say, "What?!?!?"
And if you think 550hp is more than enough, fine. I guess you won't have to worry about the cost of modifying your car then.

* 10.
Even better, how about the option?!?!?
And there's no way the CTS-V is going to run with the Vette anyways, almost based on weight alone, to say nothing about tire size, etc.
I bet more LS9 V2s sell than LSA V2s...
