Hi all,
Forum newb here, so be nice. Got my V a bit ago and love it. Went for the extended warranty, but not sure if worth it. GM already has the 100k warranty, so was not sure if anyone else went for the mastergard warranty. It's refundable up to a point, so wanted to get some feedback.
BTW, this is my first american car in a while, and has not disappointed. Just concerned about the long haul.
Thanks!

Re: Mastergard

If your keeping the car and the cost of the extended warranty is not too expensive....then it makes sense..

What was the cost? and what was the mileage/time frame purchased....

Re: Mastergard

As you probably know, the 5yr/100k is drivetrain only. Bumper to bumper is 4yr/50k. I purchased the extended warranty that brings the bumper to bumper up to 6yr/72k . The price was $2150. The advantage (I think) is that after the factory warranty expires at the 4yr mark, I can turn in the extended warranty and receive 85% ($1830) back. My idea was to see how/if I use the factory warranty and then decide if I should keep the extended.

Re: Mastergard

So considering there is a bumper to bumper, up to 40k, does anyone know if the masterguard stacks on top of the b2b? If that is the case, it may make more sense to wait until 39k and then buy the mastergard?

Im just thinking it would be great to have the additional coverage of an additional 72k miles in addition to the 40k. Then coverage until 112k? Or am I not thinking this correctly?
Thanks!

The Major Guard picks up when the manufacturer's warranty ends, so in effect you are buying an additional 24 months or 22k miles, whichever comes first.

Re: Mastergard

I have been in the same dilemma several times. I have never had good luck with warranties in general and I have stopped purchasing the extended warranties all together. If you plan to keep the car forever, a longer warranty would be in order, but most people tend to trade in cars less than 4 or 5 years old. You may want to consider getting your money back now and if you still own the car when the factory is up you always have an option to purchase an additional warranty at that time.
