I did my first oil change at 1,908 miles and my oil life monitor is at 26% right now and I am at 8,200 miles. I have gone just over 6K miles and it dropped to 26%, so it isn't pre-set by the computer for a certain amount of miles.
It goes by how you drive the car.
The Corvette owner's manual says to go by the oil life monitor or 1 year without a set amount of miles. At least that is what it said in my 2005 C6 Corvette owner's manual.

Yes, the computer takes into account the way you drive the car. My V is at 50% oil life at 3500 miles. My '08 DI, driven the same way, had it's first oil change at 7500 miles at one year, and there was still 40% per the computer. That's more in line with most other manufacturers that use synthetic oil, like BMW. It appears to me that the oil life is dropping twice as fast as my other CTS, and I'm not driving it any harder. Just wondering if it's because it's supercharged. |

Probably due to the supercharger, more heat and even though the car is low mileage by normal standards, could there be more blow-by than in a car with a normally aspirated motor. The reason that I think that ti is a possibility is my 25K mile '87 turbo Buick's Mobil1 is extremely dark at 3K mile intervals, even though I change the filter and the oil. This is my 5th '86-'87 turbo Buick, and they have all been that way. |

I haven't been gutsy enough to wait until it indicated the oil needed to be changed. I changed the oil at 2500 miles, then, just recently at 9500, when the oil life was only down to 25%. It is amazing to me that I could basically go 9-10K miles between changes according the the on-board calculator. I am just going with the recommended Mobil 1 5W-30 so far. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
