Re: WAIT4ME Airbox Mod Installation

4) Take lid off airbox:

The right side of the airbox has clips that slide into a lip on the bottom part of the airbox.

5) Take the bottom part of the airbox out of the car:

6) Take scoop out of bottom part of airbox:

7) Use a Dremel tool and remove bottom half of the bottom part of the airbox:

8) All done now put it back together.

Conclusion:

The mod is simple and the Dremel cuts through the plastic very easy. Install took 30 minutes. You can definately hear the SC whine when you get on it but it is still mild. Personally I think it is perfect balance, not to loud and not too quiet like stock. When you nail the throttle cars around you will know your blown

Thanks Jess (WAIT4ME) for sharing the mod.

Re: WAIT4ME Airbox Mod Installation

^ from what i read this was good for 5hp...Now this is with the crappy oem filter but if you went with a good filter like a green one from http://www.greenfilterusa.com/ ( better than K&N, higher quality materials ) I can guarantee you'd pick up probally a total of 10hp. I dont know if they have one out yet for the V but i'm sure they'll come out with one soon enough.

Re: WAIT4ME Airbox Mod Installation

Thanks for that write up, It is very good.

The 5hp was if you just do it with a bone stock tune and no other mods..

With our tune, and you do this adds 20 hp to the wheels. I posted the dyno graph for it over at ls1tech. Ill try to merge the posts over to this site tonight or tommorrow.

When i quoted hp gains, it was on a bone stock configuration for each mod. Back to stock, then mod one thing, re dyno.. back to stock, add mod, re dyno..

That way it is easier to pinpoint what gains can be had in stock form.

Re: WAIT4ME Airbox Mod Installation

Do you have to buy anything or is this just simply cutting the bottom of the stock box off.

Re: WAIT4ME Airbox Mod Installation

Is the airbox part available from GM? If so, what part number? I'd rather buy another, cut the bottom out of that, and save my stock airbox.
